Ammonia production asssay protocol

1. Inoculate 10 ml peptone water and incubate at 28^o^C for 48-72 h
   • If isolate does not grow well in liquid media peptone water agar can be substituted.
2. After incubation, add 0.5 ml Nessler's reagent to each tube
3. Record optical density at 630nm.
   • A color change of brown to yellow is indicative of a positive result
