Starch casein agar (SCA)

For the isolation of Actinomycetes and starch degrading microbes

Step 1:

SCA agar recipe

  1. 400 mL DI-H2O
  2. 5.0 g starch
  3. 0.15 g casein
  4. 0.01 g CaCO3
  5. 50 mL Solution A
  6. 50 mL Solution B
  7. 7.5 g agar
  8. Autoclave at 121 °C and 15 psi for 30 min.
  9. Pour plates (unless making broth, then don't do that, it will be a mess)
