Sabouraud Medium

Sabouraud agar is a enrichment medium that is formulated to enhance the growth of fungi and suppress the growth of most bacteria. Organisms able to grow in the 5.6 pH range will not be selected against.

Recipe:

1. Add 900 ml DI-H~2~O to a 2L flask or bottle
2. Add the following to the DI-H~2~O:
   • 10 g peptone
   • 40 g glucose
3. Add 15 g agar
4. Autoclave at 121 °C and 15 psi for 30 min.
5. After cooling:
   • Pour 20 ml liquid agar into 100 mm petri plates
     • (unless making broth, then don't do that, it will be a mess)
